TIME TO SCREW MARVIN MILLER AGAIN: The National Baseball Hall of Fame has nominated the following twelve men for its Veterans Committee expansion-era ballot.
Dave Concepcion, Bobby Cox, Steve Garvey, Tommy John, Tony La Russa, Billy Martin, Marvin Miller, Dave Parker, Dan Quisenberry, Ted Simmons, George Steinbrenner, Joe Torre.
Anyone receiving 75% of the Committee's vote will be inducted in July; Pat Gillick was voted in the last time the Expansion Era was considered, with the now-late Marvin Miller falling one vote short.

Your Doodle ballot is here.

Can one -- does one -- get separately inducted into the HoF as a player and a manager?

Managers qua managers only get considered via the Veterans Committee route, but each individual can only be inducted once. They're free to consider whatever they want, I believe.

I don't like LaRussa anymore than you do, Finn, but c'mon. 3 WS titles, 6 pennants, and 12 division winners covering 3 teams and both leagues. 3rd all-time in wins, and both guys ahead of him are in the Hall. He's a dick, but he should go in.

His record is good. It's his part in the Steroids Era that keeps him out. If I'm going to say that about Bonds, McGwire, Canseco and others than I'm going to say that about LaRussa and Torre.

Mmm, good point. Didn't think of it that way.
