Just not enough of the good stuff (and I like Britton & Panettiere's work on the show a lot, with a side compliment for the two girls playing Britton's daughters) for me to stick with.Joseph Finnhttp://profiles.google.com/josephfinnnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3953654.post-11953109020913809552012-11-30T17:10:16.332-05:002012-11-30T17:10:16.332-05:00I'm watching and enjoying too. I hope they kill off the election plot really soon - it's really bogging down the music stuff, and between Rayna, Juliette, Scarlett and Avery, there's more than enough there to sustain the show. Get rid of Rayna's dad, Coleman, Teddy's chippie (much as I love Kimberly Cougar-Mellencamp), etc, and ocus in on the music business.

And please, please, please let us see more of Nashville's version of the Brill Building and the whole process of writing a song and bringing it to a singer. Show us more of Rayna fining a new sound (which right now is more tell than show). Show us more about Deacon and how session bands work. Much as I don't like the crazy manager b*tch Avery is sleeping with, I like seeing all the places a band has to play to get noticed, and all the machinations it takes to get jobs. I don't know that there's ever been a TV show about the music industry, and there's plenty of drama in there without resorting to Powers Boothe chewing the scenery.

Oh, and the music is stellar. And I don't even particularly like country music.Marshanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3953654.post-57809113634015009332012-11-30T11:25:44.576-05:002012-11-30T11:25:44.576-05:00At first I thought "No One Will Ever Love You...At first I thought "No One Will Ever Love You" was a Bleu song, especially because Charles Eston's voice sounds so much like his. Maybe, I'm out of touch with Nashville, as my love, my great unending and tireless love for Country Western music seems to almost never let me get past 1992 or so, but, the songs I'm hearing on the show are what I wish Country radio sounded like, especially the stuff meant to sound old-timey rootsy. I would listen to that radio station. I got a chill during No one will ever love you, that reminded me of a first listen to the spare arrangements on Willie's Red Headed Stranger album -- that too being a departure from the then (1975) Nashville sound which was lush Phil Spectory wall of sound for country style arrangements (I think the first time I heard it in its entirety was 1997), or the first time I heard Dolly singing her original version of the second best pop-country western song of all time, I will always love you (even dead, eat your heart out Whitney, not even close). I guess I'm saying yayyy, the music on Nashville is great and pretend I worked in how awesome "I will fall" was too!James A. I initially tuned in for Connie Britton and Jonathan Jackson, but have stuck around because of so many of things mentioned above. It's quickly become my favorite new show of the season.Emily Wnoreply@blogger.com
