TWEECAP: Yes,
Pushing Daisies is really, really, really, twee, but I can deal with twee (heck, I'm seriously tempted by
the theatre down the block, which has Rushmore running at midnight this weekend). The visual styling is undeniable, the dialogue is rapid fire and bizarre, and the cast is first rate throughout, with Chi McBride there to puncture the almost overpowering whimsy at times. And Kristin Chenoweth opening with a "mastication" joke? Quality. Certainly, there are concerns about sustainability, both from a premise standpoint and from avoiding doing the exact same thing each week (
see, e.g., Reaper), but I'm in, even for a rewatching over the weekend.
