I've kind of come around to the vuvuzela. The other night my neighbor had a party to celebrate 30 years of working with his company, and the sound of people in his backyard having a good time made me wish I had a vuvuzela so that I could lean out the window and join the celebration.
On the world cup topic, thanks to the 0-0 England/Algeria draw, the disallowed goal would have clinched the second round for the USA. In case you weren't mad enough.
At the same time, thanks to the England-Algeria draw, if the US beats Algeria, it moves on (and the winner of England-Slovenia moves on too). I guess the results this year are a bit crazy, but the conventional wisdom is still that the two points ultimately won't matter.
Still enraging, though, especially since he refused to tell anybody what the infraction was (phantom offsides? foul on somebody away from the ball? foul on Bradley for getting spooned by the Slovenian defender?) and because it was the same ref who yellow-carded Robbie Findley for playing a ball off his face. Hard to believe that there's not something crooked about those two calls coming from the same guy.
wrote up the possible outcomes after the USA game and before the England-Algeria game. Here's what I have for today's results.

Vuvuzela better be one of the words of the year.
