SHUT THE DOOR, HAVE A SEAT: Following up on the Man-Off, and in preparation for the Mad Men season premiere on Sunday, which may warrant Full Team Coverage (and based on a discussion with a few faithful readers on Twitter) it's time for Mad Men Boff, Marry, Kill--we have both a female and male edition for you:

Females: Joan Holloway, Betty Draper, Peggy Olson
Men: Don Draper, Roger Sterling, Pete Campbell

(FWIW--universal agreement on the female side thus far that Betty dies--I go marry Peggy, boff Joan.)

(What?  You can't trust Don as far as you can throw him.)

Marry Roger, Boff Don, and kill Pete. Re: JJF's trust argument, you don't have to trust someone to boff them, and if you're married to Roger, you know he's cheating too, so why not have some Don Draper fun on the side? Pete is far too whiny and annoying to either marry or boff.

For the ladies, marry Peggy, boff Joan, kill Betty. But I have a soft side for Betty -- she's an unlikable character but played very well, I think, as a complete mess, by January Jones. So no extreme prejudice on my end there.

If I'm playing the female edition, it's definitely marry Joan, boff Peggy, kill Betty.

For the men, it's marry Don, boff Roger, kill Pete, but I can see an argument for marrying Pete. After all, if he's good enough for Alison Brie, who am I to complain?

Plus, of the three of them, only Pete conceived a child out of marriage (as far as we know), so it's like he is super trustworthy himself.

Maret, I think Don's more likely to get you in a bad situation just by carelessness; he's that kind of a cad.  Roger is more careful that way (though certainly a cad in his own way.)

I think I'd switch it up and boff Peggy and marry Joan. I mean, I know Peggy'd be a better wife (well...maybe I should say she's less likely to, say, smash a vase over my head) and that Joan is the sexiest person ever to have lived but Joan is just so awesome that I can't not take the choice that would keep her in my life (and eyeshot) for the longest. And I actually think Betty gets a bad rap, but I couldn't kill Peggy or Joan and Peggy's probably better in bed anyway. So, kill Betty.

Marry Roger, boff Don, kill Pete. Easy one. (Then, after, can I also kill both Roger and Don?)

    Boff?

"Because he boffed Hendricks last week.  And then, after the game, he fucked her!  ... They are?  You're sure about this?"

  10. For all of y'all killing Pete, can I take Trudy thereafter?  (Actually, I'd prefer Annie Edison, but Trudy will work.)

Can we get some love for Trudy?

  12. I ditto Marsha exactly.

Also a friend of mine saw a media screener last night and is being all secretive and "professional" (damn him), but did say that the focus is much more on the agency again, and he thoroughly enjoyed it.

  14. Not directly on point, but useful for this crowd nonetheless: if you wish to remain completely unspoiled about season 4, do NOT read today's New York Times article about the show's return.  No major spoilers, but enough to irritate me.

Marry Joan, boff Betty, kill Peggy -- more process of elimination, but she is kinda annoying.

If female or nontraditional male, boff Roger, marry Don (admit it, he's a decent parent), kill Pete.

You said it, Benner: Don's a good parent, plus I already know all his secrets. Also, I'm a boozy brunette, so we might make a go of it. Marry Don, boff Roger, kill Pete. Sorry, Pete.

Must marry Joan and kill Betty, so pass me the marijuana, and I'll boff Peggy.

Boff Joan, Marry Peggy, Kill Betty. Easy.
Boff Don, Kill Pete, Marry Roger (then divorce and collect alimony.)

  18. I'm a little surprised by the amount of support for marrying Peggy.  Have we seen anything from her to suggest that she has any interest in or facility for a stable long-term relationship?

Kill Pete, Marry Roger, Boff Don. Roger's so close to his demise that he'll be good for some will money, and lord knows you wouldn't get a cent out of Draper's money drawer. And I'm sorry Pete, but you will always look that age (which is about 15), and I would hate him looking younger than me.

Kill Betty, Marry Peggy, Boff Joan. Peggy's going to bring some serious cash to the relationship, with her 21 dollars a week. And she works so much, she has no time for boffing. Plus, I have a steadfast rule never to marry someone who plays the accordian.

Kill Pete (for "Mad Men" and "Angel"), marry Don. boff Roger. It's the hair.

Marry (and boff repeatedly) Joan, boff Peggy (she'll figure it all out soon and acquire Joan's confidence), and kill Betty. She does nothing for me.

  25. Yup, I'm with my sister on this one.  Joan makes a fantastic wife (I mean, the accordian playing for guests? In French?!)  While Peggy might be good in bed, but seems too confused (and independent) for marriage right now.

Well, okay, "good" on a curve! Although Don is party to raising the children in a House of Lies, sets a bad example re: picnic litter, and more or less gives Betty leave to exercise her VERY horrible parenting (big demerit), we've seen him do some solid and loving dadding. At the end of "Guy Walks Into an Ad Agency," for example, when he comforts Sally in her midnight terror and shepherds her through her fear/rejection of Baby Gene.

It's a no brainer who to kill--Pete and Betty.
As for boffing vs. marrying, it's a flawed question between the remaining girls.  Joan is someone you could marry and why would you even think of straying?  Not only is she good looking, but smart, too!  Peggy has issues; maybe enough to make you stray, but not enough to kill.
Between the remaining guys, Roger would be a riot and Don would make all that money from Jon Hamm's John Ham.
