Who all do we have as Jeopardy vets?  Victoria, Sconstant, and now Maggie.  Anyone else?

We also have some who went through the most recent round of auditions and are waiting for the call from the show during this cycle - myself, Adam B. (I assume still waiting, unless you just can't say), and maybe more....

I waited over a year - took the 2010 online test, auditioned in May 2010 and didn't tape until August 2011.  I had actually kind of forgotten about it until they called in July.

    Me (a few years ago).

Not that I'm around that much, but me, too, and in fact I was there at the same taping session as Watts. That's right, I've met Watts, nanny nanny boo boo.

Really hope you enjoyed it, Maggie!

Also, let's take a moment and think of the ALOTT5MA Pub Quiz Team Grudge Match that we could form up.  Thing Throwers in various cities, all vying for a, say, NPH-shaped trophy.

  17. NYCers are always welcome to join me and my regular team at the Big Quiz Thing, which tonight features the added bonus of $25 all-you-can-eat ribs, chicken, brisket, and selected sides as a meal.

I could put a hella dent in all-you-can-eat brisket.

I'll be cheering on your past self, Maggie!

  22. They didn't have all you can eat, so I opted for the $25 one beef rib, one pork rib, 1/4 chicken, 1/4 pound of brisket and two sides deal.  (Quizzing less successful--only a fifth place finish.)

Well I'm disappointed.  Not in your quizzing of course, but in the not AYCE.  Sounds like you had a good, large meal for $25 though!

Hey, I've met Watts too! (You should all want to meet Watts. She's friggin' awesome. And really, really short.)

I auditioned live last year and haven't heard anything.

Guest was me.  My work computer logged me out.

  26. Assuming that Megan=Maggie, much credit for the category that you ran in Double Jeopardy, and there was also one of the nastiest categories I've ever seen in Jeopardy! on that board (without scratch paper and with the clock running, not friendly to traditional J! players).  Jeopardy! should be about knowledge, not what that category was about.

Seriously.  And the middle lady was hosed in Final Jeopardy.  But jeezu, there is no reason that particular category should have had a Double Jeopardy in it.

Also, I persist in thinking Jeopardy is spelled Jeapordy.

Yep that was me.  I probably owe at least one of those correct responses to an ALLOT5MA post or comment. I mean, seriously, there was a clue that involved NPH. I will note that, while I didn't answer a ton of questions (major buzzer timing issues), at least I didn't get anything wrong. One of my co-workers noted that all of the questions I answered were related to England, food, movies or TV, which doesn't say much about my actual intellect, but does justify my EW and US Weekly subscriptions and the few trips I've made to London in the past two years...

During that math question, I was just focused on not standing there with my mouth agape and trying to look like I was doing the math in my head (which I most certainly was not).  I left after my show taped, so I'm very interested to see how far Joon goes - he had success in a really broad range of categories.
I felt bad for the other woman, who pretty clearly wrote "Sq" - it meant that I got second instead of last, but she definitely got the right answer.

It was a really great experience, and Alex is pretty charming in person (although his mobility is still fairly limited due to his injury from chasing that robber).  Aside from running the Emmy category, the highlights were Alex admiring my necklace and not having to be elevated behind my podium because I was wearing crazy high heels (because the viewing public would likely have seen me fall off if I had been elevated)  The people who work on the show are all super-nice and really want everyone to have fun and do well.

As I mentioned above, I took the online test in January 2010, auditioned in May 2010 and taped in August 2011, so for those of you who've auditioned, don't lose hope if you haven't heard anything yet.

Great job - you just had a total steamroller at the other end of the panel.  First thing I thought when I saw you start down the Emmy category was "Oh, she's gonna nail these." And then you did.

And yes, we thought the other woman should have gotten the benefit of the doubt that it was a q after the S (though on our SD screen it looked kinda like a triangle), but I guess I can understand how reasonable judges might disagree - particularly if it looked to them like she was rushing to complete the response (didn't really notice whether that was the case, though).

And I loved Alex's sucker sound bit for the commerical break.

They make a huge deal out of how your final Jeopardy answer has to be complete - seriously, the casting people tell you like 20 times before the tapings.  It's why my "square" was all squished in at the end...I wanted to make sure I got the whole answer.

  32. Congrats for getting on the show, Maggie! Thanks for telling us about it.

I had to laugh at "England, food, movies or TV" because that list pretty much sums up my entire existence.

I also knew that you were going to kill the Emmy category just b/c you are a Thing Thrower.  I actually laughed out loud when I saw the NPH one.  You did great and I am really proud of you!  (It is amazing how excited I can be for people I've never met before.)  Also, can I please be a member of the Cheesecake of the Month club?  Honestly, the strawberry margarita one sounded really good to me!  If someone is sending me a cheesecake, I will not pan it -- I promise.

Maggie, the new Jeopardy! boards are here (Sony shut theirs down, or it crashed and they didn't bother putting it back up, but a boardie started a new one):

The thread about your game is here (with some liking for your Emmy domination):
