THE VEST MOVE: I may have barely paid attention to American Idol this season, but one sure way to bring me back is with the Wacky Dancing Montage of the Final 24. For those who have been paying attention, do we have any favorites yet -- either in terms of "this is who you should like" or "this is who's going to win"?
(Fienberg galleries the gentlemen and ladies in the running for America's Next Not Sexually Threatening White Guy Who May Play Guitar.)
More importantly, let's go to the archives for the Wacky Dancing Montages of Season 7 -- Battle of the Davids, Season 5 -- The One With That Woman Who's On That Show Now, and the 1st, 2nd (perhaps our favorite semis week ever), and 3rd groups of 12 from season 8, The One With The Lambert. Many, many former semifinalists whom you've totally forgotten about over the intervening years. Enjoy.
Some of my favorite performances from the Hollywood rounds...
ReplyDeleteWe rarely see a guy employ falsetto as skillfully as Deandre Brackensick... one of the best R&B-leaning guys on a season with several - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EPPIBRh0H8 ("This Woman's Work" starts around :30)
Jessica Sanchez is young, but she's got the potential to make some waves (moreso than a Katie Stevens or Thia Megia, at least): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwRvF41ked0
And I like just about everyone in this group (all of whom but Nick Boddington are in the 24), which gave one of the best Hollywood group performances ever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxS2ojWS9Wo
I tuned in for the last 5 minutes...as I waited for "The Office" to come on....and was amazed that they are now courting 12 year old boys for this horrible show.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Preston on Deandre Brackensick. I liked him a lot. Overall I thought the voices were a bit better than the past couple of seasons. But there are couple of singers who are distractingly eccentric--or edited to seem that way. We'll see how they wear over the next rounds, but I'm done with them already.
ReplyDeleteWooden bookshelves are an ideal way to improve the style and interior design of your home. Whether you go for the archaic, antiquated look, or prefer the modern wooden style, a well-made wooden bookshelf will enhance the look of any room.
