As a Royals fan, it pains me a little to imagine Wil Myers still a part of our team. On the other hand, it's nice to see KC has finally been able to hold on to some of our talent, making for a magical August.
There's no longer room for Ackley in the Mariners' IF, given the complete evaporation of his rookie bat skills, so you'd probably see him move to the OF instead of either Ichiro or Ibanez, neither of whom would figure in the long-term plans. The bullpen also is all wrong--too expensive, given the Mariners' talent for finding and developing decent bullpen talent on the cheap. I'd probably swap out Putz for Erasmo Ramirez to start, though it's hard to see Tillman lasting long in the rotation with Ramirez there and Maurer/Walker/Hultzen/Paxton warming up on the farm.
Eh, the Sox might be marginally better.

ReplyDeleteFrom the Detroit blurb:
ReplyDelete"The rotation would certainly mourn the losses of Doug Fister and Anibal Sanchez..."
...and maybe that one other guy.
(And I'm not sure I like that lineup as much as Lanza does.)
