I had a horrid moment where I thought they had skipped Trainspotting until I realized there were two pages.
That's a... peculiar definition of opening scene, at least with respect to 2001. (Also, The Searchers, at 22, is way too low.)
Before reading the list, my money's on Raiders of the Lost Ark.
I would add the amazing rooftop/cranes chase scene that opens the Daniel Craig "Casino Royale."
Wait, guessing before reading is fun! Watchmen had a great opening sequence. Hell, even Charlie's Angels plane bit was fun.
I'm glad they included the opening scene of "The Godfather," which deserves the praise. But what's with the Hebrew subtitles?
Personally: 1) Raiders of the Lost Ark 2) UP 3) Inglorious Basterds
I would have put "Up" way higher on the list. And no "The Sound of Music?" That's a pretty famous opening scene.
I would definitely have put "Rushmore" on there somewhere. Probably not near the very top, but it sets up the film perfectly.
It's only been 10 hours since I've seen it, but GRAVITY now deserves a spot near or at the very top of the list.
