i got that CD on the strength of the No Rain single, and to a lesser extent "Tones of Home," which is more of a jam type jam. It is mostly what we would now think of as nu-metal, and as a result, a waste of money. How would Blind Melon's career have been different if they had released one of the shitty songs on the album as a single? They wouldn't have had the major hit, but they would have avoided one hit wonder status and built a following doing what it is they mostly did. Maybe Shannon Hoon lives, but probably not.
And Brian May is now an astrophysicist. If we can find just one more example of a rock guitarist pursuing an intellectual career, we'd have a trend ...
