DVR ALERT:  Tonight is CBS' broadcast of highlights from this year's Kennedy Center Honors ceremony, with this year's rainbow ribbons going to Dustin Hoffman, David Letterman, Buddy Guy, ballerina Natalia Makarova, and Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones.

If you're not watching that, what are you watching during this week of no new programming? I found myself sucked into a trio of Lost reruns on G4 two nights ago -- mid-season five stuff with our crew getting integrated into the Dharma Initiative ... really pleasant stuff I was glad to see again.

  1. While being at the in-laws in Devon, We enjoyed the hell out of the first two seasons of Vera, the iTV crime series starring Brende Blethyn. It's like Midsomer Murders in a lot of ways, but in amore industrial setting in Northumberland (and as a Newcastle United fan, it's quite nice to see their colors all over the place. Also, a 3-2 loss to Manchester U today is nothing to sneeze at.)

We loaded up on DVDs at the library. Some of you may have seen my unkind reaction to Hook, which is absolutely as mediocre to poor as you ought to remember it being. The 8yo and I watched King Kong (1933) over the weekend. For the grownups, hoping to squeeze in Gone Baby Gone, Machete, and Moonrise Kingdom (triple feature in that order?). And I have to catch up on a couple eps of Fringe.

My brother-in-law gave my in-laws all of Sherlock on DVD, so that got a lot of play on Christmas Day. Also, I've been busting through documentaries in my Netflix queue.
