I THINK THE SONG "FEVER DOG" IS A BIG STEP FORWARD FOR YOU GUYS. I THINK YOU GUYS PRODUCING IT YOURSELVES, INSTEAD OF GLYN JOHNS, WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO. AND THE GUITAR SOUND... IS INCINDIARY. INCENDIARY: Fifteen great fictional on-screen bands.

  1. Just saw (on Jezebel) a bit of Ebert's review of that: "Oh, what a lovely film. I was almost hugging myself while I watched it."

Not great, but enjoyable: the band in BandSlam. Just watch it. Trust me.

And I always, always love the joke that Love Burger never actually plays in "Can't Hardly Wait."

There is not much I can add to my previously-expressed deep fondness for Almost Famous at this point, other than these two points:

    1. Other than John Mahoney in Say Anything, perhaps, is there a better or more nuanced depiction of the parent of a teenager anywhere in recent film history?

    2. I came very close to getting this canvas, but couldn't figure out where to put it: http://society6.com/product/Almost-Famous_Stretched-Canvas

  3. You put it in whatever room you want to look most awesome. It's only 13" x 13", not that big.

They really should have included Eddie & the Cruisers. I just listened to that soundtrack the other day. And there's a lot of great conversation in that movie about how to make music.

The Oh-nee-ders! Now I'm going to have "That Thing You Do" in my head all day. Not that I'm mad at that, mind you.

    1. No Commitments? Stupid list.

    2. The Athene Duncannon band in Absolute Beginners. This is my favorite
    Sade
    song
    .

    3. I'd put Barry Jive and the Uptown 5 before School of Rock.

    4. Ellen Aim and The Attackers from Streets of Fire

    5. Love the movie Bandslam, but the band was better with Aly Michalka

    6. Breaking Glass from Breaking Glass
