I FEEL THE EARTH MOVE:  Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, which was nominated for an arm-load of Tonys last season, winning for Best Actress and Best Sound Design, is getting the film treatment.  Various folks have been rumored for King biopics in the past, including Allison Williams, Analeigh Tipton, and Taylor Swift.  I'm assuming that despite universal praise and a Tony for Jessie Mueller (who originated the part on Broadway, and is already at GT courtesy of the cast album), she won't be getting it.

It's too bad Illeana Douglas is too old, as she's kind of done it already.

And that's a movie that I could easily watch again to see Matt Dillon's take on Brian Wilson.

I somehow never knew that the Grammy for best musical theater album was awarded to the principal vocalists as well as the authors and producers.

  4. That's a relatively new change, since 2012. Means Josh Gad and Cristin Miliotti have Grammies. And notably, Beautiful's win deprived NPH of the G he needed to EGT.

That's an excellent change I think.

I love that movie (though it kind of falls apart at the end). So many great people in it, such great performances.

  7. LOVE that soundtrack. "God Give Me Strength," "Man From Mars," "Unwanted Number," "In Another World," just off the top of my head.
