NO ONE SEEMS TO BE GOING FULL RETARD HERE: I'm assuming I'm not the only one interested in State of Play, featuring Ben Affleck's first big screen lead role in 5 years (since bomb Surviving Christmas), and Rachel McAdams' first major role since her 2005 breakout trio of Red Eye, The Family Stone, and Wedding Crashers, as well as supporting turns from Helen Mirren, Jason Bateman, Jeff Daniels, and Viola Davis, and a script by Matthew Carnahan (The Kingdom), Tony Gilroy (Michael Clayton and Duplicity), and Billy Ray (Breach, Shattered Glass). With those credentials, I'd probably be interested even absent the solid reviews (83% on the Tomatometer). But what's getting your entertainment dollar this weekend? State of Play, the surprisingly warmly-reviewed 17 Again, or the utterly inexplicable Crank: High Voltage (though I must admit to a soft spot for the "He Was Dead, But He Got Better" tagline)?
