Must have been a terrible year.

I would have put money on Chris Pratt.

It's not clearly wrong, but it's wrong. Taylor Swift defeated all the liars and the dirty, dirty cheats of the world in 2014.

    Prediction: Colbert in 2016.

  5. They haven't released the list, but I'd bet she's on the Top 10, and wouldn't be shocked if part of the reason she's not #1 is not wanting to/being able to sit for a profile and photo shoot.

  6. Looking at their Best Movies list (is it online yet? I downloaded the issue on my iPad last night) makes me REALLY miss Owen Gleiberman now. (It's not that I particularly dislike Nashawathy, but Owen was *my* critic. His taste reflected my own more often than any other critic.)

And unsurprisingly, Transparent tops the TV list. I'll be curious to see just how many lists it tops - for me and likely many others, it was without a doubt the best thing on TV (or, "TV") this year. Brilliant, heart-breaking, important television.

I don't know that I would have chosen Jimmy Fallon---Chris Pratt (with both the Lego Movie and Guardians of the Galaxy) was my first choice, followed by Taylor Swift. But I can't say that I feel that it was really WRONG. He managed to take over a veteran institution, both updating it and reminding everyone of the classic host, Johnny Carson, raising ratings and creating tons of viral moments.

  8. Notwithstanding the fact that Dallas Buyers Club was released last year and (as Matt has reminded me) Interstellar got very mixed reviews, I was expecting it to be Matthew McConaughey.
