MICHAEL VAUGHN CAN'T BE DEAD -- HE'S ALIVE AND WELL ON THE PAGES OF THE WSJ: Interesting article in today's Journal (subscription unfortunately req'd) about how actors like Michael Vartan are being hotly pursued for television pilots because of a shortage of ruggedly handsome actors-with-real-chops to carry the weight of the burgeoning surge of new dramas. Examples cited include George Clooney back in the glory days of ER, and more recently Matthew Fox and the guy with the best glistening eyes in the business, Patrick Dempsey. Besides Vartan, other actors being wooed by multiple parties include Peter Krause, Jeremy Northam, and Ron Livingston.
