Looking at the actual list, The Wife picks "40" and I'll go with "Lola." Going off the list, and placing second behind the Liverpool crowd, is a band that never played stadiums, but always had the crowd singing along. From 1984, I give you the Minneapolis band Urban Guerillas and the extremely not safe for work song Land of 1000 Dances. Initial Internet Archive link is safe for work.
I cast my official vote for Elton John's "Tiny Dancer", but only if we're singing the exquisite Ben Folds version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wF4WeCGrILc
Otherwise, I feel like my heart goes out to the Edmonton Oilers fans, with their heart-stopping take on their national anthem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meLpuF9UMvk
I await the corrections from Adam C and others as to how to transcribe the audience portion of Bruce Springsteen's "Badlands".
ReplyDeleteYou'll never walk alone
ReplyDeleteColdplay's "Fix You" (check out the version on LeftRightLeftRightLeft)
ReplyDeleteArcade Fire's "Wake Up" (as heard most recently in "Where the Wild Things Are")

Here we go, Celtic and Liverpool singing together.
ReplyDeleteI'm partial to "Born to Run" and "Piano Man", but how is "Hungry Heart" not a Springsteen choice? That's my favorite.
ReplyDeleteMy other choice would be Barenaked Ladies' "If I Had $1,000,000" but I'm not sure that's a sing along so much as call-and-response. Does that count?
