TWO GREAT TASTES THAT ... Y'KNOW, I DON'T WANT TO FIND OUT:  Thanks to joking references on the show iCarly, our children may want us to serve them spaghetti in ... tacos?

  1. I'm just disturbed that Miranda Cosgrove is apparently going to show up on The Good Wife in a few weeks.

And of course, this requires a trip to Taco Town.

    Two points I already tweeted:

    1) I love that somebody got pop cultural intellectual whore Robert Thompson to comment on "spaghetti tacos." AWESOME.

    2) I'm not saying that iCarly is going to be especially responsible for any unlikely rise in childhood obesity within our already obese nation, but if there's anything on earth more American putting an appropriated Italian food inside an appropriated Mexican food, I don't know what it could possibly be. Carbohydrate-stuffed carbohydrates? I am SO there!

And Matt, I'll see your Taco Town and raise you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ikR1H3mh90

This is amazingly timely. I just made spaghetti earlier tonight. I'm still stuffed out of my mind, and it's four hours later. Now eating the same meal, but in a taco? I don't want to know.

It reminds me of a story my mom tells all the time: Her dad, for Thanksgiving one year, asked: "Everybody likes chocolate chips, right?" "Yeah!" "And everybody likes mashed potatoes, right?" "Yeah, umm..." (He then dumps chocolate chips into mashed potatoes, then forces all three children to eat them.)

the classic leftover spaghetti sandwich is nothing new.  Swapping out two pieces of bread for a tortilla wrap (with mozz)is probably better for you.  I MUST HAVE THIS.

Our kids summarily rejected a cheese quesadilla once, so we started Crazy Taco Night, where the only rule is, there are no rules. So we've had hot dog and macaroni and cheese burritos and chicken, cucumber, and cheese tacos, Because of this (incredibly silly) night, I've managed to get them to try new kinds of cheese, shrimp, and avocado.

I actually had a request for spaghetti tacos for dinner from my 9 year old.  We did it - because why the heck not?  It was fun but nobody in my house has asked for them again.  You can find recipes online that makes the spaghetti a little more mexican - that might taste a bit better.  We just had our regular spaghetti recipe in taco shells.

iCarly seems to be one show that nobody in my house complains about watching.  Even my 13 year old has said it's "oddly random" which is as close to an approval of a "kid show" as you're going to get from my 13 year old.  ;-)

I was shocked at how many words the NYT devoted to this supposed craze.  Long article for something you can sum up in a paragraph...
