HE'S PLAYING TEXTBOOK, BUT HE'S PLAYING WITH ME:  Oh, my. There's something to be said for watching a plan being executed on Survivor ... but that's only in one tribe.  In the other tribe, the gap between perceived control and actual control is going to grow increasingly awesome as time passes.  Dramatic irony, you are my friend.

So here's the brilliance of Rob's move: when you're up 6-2 in your tribe, you can't give (anyone who perceives him/herself to be in) the bottom two of your six any incentive to align with the other two outsiders and flip the balance. So keep them close, and oust one of them before he even realizes that he's in the bottom two. Now he's got a 4-2 situation in his tribe plus a very confused Philip floating about, which presents a very controllable situation heading towards a future merge.

As far as Tribe Russell goes, heh.  That's all I got.

  1. As a viewer of Survivor since it started, I cannot wait until Russell gets his butt handed to him by Ralph. Why does he think he knows how to play the game? He's never won anything! And I'm still weirded out by the idea of rooting for Boston Rob. I hated him during his first two Survivor seasons and on TAR. As an elder statesman of reality TV, I'm totally in his corner.

So he was basically an IT guy? That sort of jives with the fact that he said he now owns a software company.

Boston Rob is so fantastic.  I loved seeing the way he dealt with Philip (and then the great line after that was something along the lines of "government work makes you crazy") - really smart.  This season is fantastic so far.

Phillip might be confused generally, but he knows Rob kept him in the game, and as a result of both that knowledge and his big loyalty speeches, I'd be surprised if he mounts a mutiny against Rob at any point before he eventually gets shipped off to Redemption Island.
