I have no real problem with the choice of 100, just that it's not in any kind of order. And the fact that it lists everyone from Fawlty Towers except for Manuel (Andrew Sachs).
Any Python fan knows that number 92 is as American as high-fructose corn syrup pie.
Truthfully, with the exception of John Cleese, none of those people are funnier than Princess Beatrice's hat.
To be fair, Benner, the intro notes that it's actually the funniet people on British TV, not funniest British people (otherwise Billy Connolly would be eliminated as well). And I'm thankful it's almost certainly not in order, because a world where people from The Young Ones and Benny Hill are ranked above Bill Bailey is just wrong.
I liked the Young Ones when they used to show re-runs on comedy central after school. I don't know how this criterion justifies excluding Manuel (he's from Barcelona). W.S. Sullivan? Funny, but so is Winston Spencer Churchill. (No politics?) And the sea monster hat was not not on tv.
I was just going to say that a world in which Billy Connolly > Douglas Adams is a kafkaesque nightmare -- didn't realize the list was unordered. Putting numbers on it kind of suggests otherwise. In any event, it being unordered doesn't cure the Billy Connolly-being-on-the-list problem, but at least it solves the problem of the inequality: BC>DA.
Okay, thank goodness it isn't ordered. I couldn't figure out how Dawn French was that much funnier than Jennifer Saunders or Nick Frost over Simon Pegg. Am I the only one who enjoyed the repeats of "Are You Being Served?" on PBS? Because I loved Mr. Humphries, John Inman.
