It's not terribly high quality, but seems like someone has uploaded all of Millie and Anything Goes to YouTube, and both are fairly kid-safe. And while there's not good video, "Astonishing" is a wonderful vocal performance from the mediocre Little Women musical (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZX8pKPm5LQ),.
And if you want to bug ABC Family about putting Bunheads out on DVD....http://abcfamily.go.com/feedback
She's doing concerts in New York in January and at Penn State in February.
Here's "Show Off" from The Drowsy Chaperone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLDq-2e2JC0
(Not the best quality, but I'm sure they'll get a kick out of it.)
The Tony Awards "Anything Goes" performance was abridged. If you just want to see (a low-quality taped-from-the-audience version of) the complete tap dance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlCZutwVlzQ
Take her to see "Violet" in NYC this spring! It's my favorite musical EVER, and the Roundabout is doing a Broadway production starring Sutton Foster starting in late March. I'll be going as many times as I can. :)
I would not recommend the Flight of the Concords episode with her. :) Her episode features the one song of theirs that is almost guarenteed to make be blush.
Sue, how long do you guess it might be on Broadway? (trying to figure out when I can go)
Show them the KenCen Honors tribute to Shirley Maclaine, which starts with Sutton (following with Patina Miller, Karen Olivo, and Anna Kendrick - I think I watched it four times before I could stand to delete it)http://www.broadway.com/buzz/173860/watch-patina-miller-sutton-foster-anna-kendrick-karen-olivo-celebrate-shirley-maclaine-at-the-kennedy-center-honors/
Previews start March 28, it opens on April 20, and closes Aug 10. It, AND Hedwig with NPH AND Cabaret with Cumming/Williams all open the same week - not coincidentally the week we're going to NYC!
Hi Genevieve! Randy covered your question, but if you want more info about the show:http://www.roundabouttheatre.org/Shows-Events/Violet.aspxAlso, regarding taking kids: it's probably not appropriate for young kids. I'd say 12 and up are okay? Nothing too shocking, but it's clear that Violet has sex with someone, and the accident that gives Violet her scar may be scary for younger kids.
That August 10 date isn't set in stone, methinks. Yes, Roundabout has tentatively announced a revival of Real Thing to go into the American Airlines in the Fall, but they've shuffled in the past, and there's no casting for that revival announced yet. (Also would be less than shocking for it to move to the Roundabout-controlled Stephen Sondheim depending on how Beautiful does.)
Thank you, Sue!! I am dying to go see it, have to see when the trip up is feasible. Watched the clips of Sutton singing in it from Encores! (hey Adam: that's more clips for your daughters: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VM7J2pPr0L8) and the Roundabout video about the show, which was great.I actually just got cast in a local production at a teaching theater here (i.e. it's an intensive class but we put the show on and sell tickets). I only know that I'm ensemble, will get anything more specific than that next week. Am very excited about it. Don't know it beyond the videos from Roundabout.
Forgot to say, Adam, her album is terrific:http://suttonfoster.com/wish.htm
Also the KenCen tribute for Barbara Cook. Featuring Laura Osnes, Rebecca Luker, Kelli O'Hara, Glenn Close, Sutton Foster, Patti LuPone, and Audra McDonald. Then try not to cry at the end when they all sing together on "Make Our Garden Grow." I MEAN LOOK AT THAT LIST THEY HAD TO PUT TOGETHER TO ADEQUATELY PAY TRIBUTE TO BARBARA COOK. COME ON. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0aV-gXIMCg
