YOU CAN'T HANDLE THIS IDEA: Apparently assuming that Peter Pan: Live! will be a success, NBC is considering broadening the franchise to plays with A Few Good Men: Live! So, who do you cast?
Get Clooney for the Henry Fonda part, Dan Lauria for the Lee Cobb part, Paul Giamatti to play the John Fiedler part...wait, it's not 12 Angry Men? Well, forget it then.
They're doing this play at my son's school this year and he very much wants to be in it, so he was psyched about this. If they cast it well, I definitely like the idea of NBC showing live plays as well as musicals.
Sorkin-experienced actors: Dule Hill as Lt. Weinberg or Capt. Ross (Kevin Bacon's role). Josh Charles would probably be great in a number of roles, but I'm thinking Kaffee (if not Pine) or Ross. William H. Macy could play Markinson (J.T. Walsh's role) or Jessup.
If NBC wanted to showcase its existing talent, it could just use the cast of Blacklist: Spader as Jessep, Parminder Nagra as Jo, random FBI agents as random Marines, etc.
Take it in an entirely new direction. Jonah Hill as Jessup. Michael Cera as Caffey. Melissa McCarthy as Jo. Queen Latifah as Ross. Andy Serkis doing motion-capture for a bipedal lizard playing Kendrick.
JK Simmons for Jessup?

ReplyDeleteNow I just want Jessup to cut off every question by waving his fist and saying "That's Not My Tempo!"
ReplyDeleteHas Joshua Malina started campaigning for a part yet? And if so, his or another?
ReplyDeleteBradley Whitford IS Lieutenant Weinberg.
ReplyDeleteI saw the actual play 376 years ago and Ron Perlman played Jessup.
ReplyDeleteAnne Hathaway! NPH!

We already know he can do the Sorkinese, so what about Jesse Eisenberg as Caffey?
ReplyDeleteJennifer Lawrence as Jo, Chris Pine as Kaffee, and James Spader or Andre Braugher as Jessup.

ReplyDeleteI bet Allison Tolman has the range to play Jo Galloway, and Tatiana Maslany certainly does. And Billy Bob Thornton could pull off Jessup.
ReplyDeleteOK, I'll stop now.
If NBC wanted to showcase its existing talent, it could just use the cast of Blacklist: Spader as Jessep, Parminder Nagra as Jo, random FBI agents as random Marines, etc.
ReplyDeleteOf course, that assumes Blacklist hasn't been cancelled by then.
ReplyDeleteAlt.sorkinverse: Matthew Perry as Kaffee, Jeff Daniels as Jessup, Sarah Paulson as Jo.
ReplyDeleteEasier solution--Tatiana Maslany plays every part.
ReplyDeleteTake it in an entirely new direction. Jonah Hill as Jessup. Michael Cera as Caffey. Melissa McCarthy as Jo. Queen Latifah as Ross. Andy Serkis doing motion-capture for a bipedal lizard playing Kendrick.
