IT DOESN'T MATTER THAT I DON'T ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT HOCKEY. GORDON, IT'S ON: LET'S go FLY-ers! [clap clap] [clap clap clap] LET'S go FLY-ers! [clap clap] [clap clap clap]

To paraphrase Emperor Hirohito, the playoffs developed not necessarily to the Sharks' advantage.

The Flyers making the Cup is all sorts of awesome, and kind of a capper for a heck of a few days of TV entertainment.  The problem, though, is that I find watching Flyers' playoff games to be almost unbearably stressful, in a way unlike any other sport, as no lead seems safe and there seems to be dozens of "oh no" moments every game.  I don't know if my already chewed down fingernails can take any more ("picked a bad day to stop sniffing glue", etc).

Sorry Philly crew. I'm going to have to go with Chicago on this one. Their 49 year drought is longer than the 42 year drought the Red Wings snapped in 1997.

Besides, any conference that allows a team into the playoffs on a last day penalty shootout and then allows that team win the conference playoffs, is not that tough of a conference. 88 points? That's tied for 12th in the West. Sure, to go from last minute qualifier to the Finals is fun, and I would LOVE to see the look on Marian Hossa's face as Philly lifts the Cup, but unfortunately, it's not going to happen.

    Chicago in 5.

  4. It's not "not a conference," it's not a real sport if you can have a 7/8 matchup in the conference finals.

    Who is Marian Hossa?

Seven teeth, seven minutes back on the ice. That's hard core.

He is a free agent mercenary who has decided to play for whichever team he thinks will get him his Stanley Cup. He went from Atlanta to Pittsburgh in time to lose to the Red Wings in the finals in 2008, then left Pittsburgh to join the Wings in 2009 only to have Pittsburgh win it on Detroit's home ice, then he left for Chicago. If he could lose in the finals three years in a row, it would serve him right.

You're supposed to do the Cup shopping at the end of your career, not in the middle (Hossa's 31.) See Bourque, Ray.

    Go Blackhawks!!!!

I think my favorite Chicago fan examples are the fact that the giant Foo dogs outside of the Peninsula hotel are wearing hawks sweaters as is the guy with the umbrella who is permenantly hailing a cab outside of the four seasons.

I only follow hockey in the olympics and when the Flyers get to the conference finals.

Having said that, when the sport is played with intensity, it's great to watch.  (The regular season, however . . .)  Flyers up one goal and on a 4 minute penalty kill . . . riveting.

Heh, I think we hav a serious Philly-Chicago thing going here (Hawks in 6, and good on the Flyers for making it to the Finals).

I haven't seen those things, Heather; I've got to get up there.  Have you seen the Picasso?  Fun!  I suspect the Art Institute Lions might get a little decoration soon, too.

Playoff Hockey is largely about desire and a hot goalie. Who knows if Leighton will stay hot? That siad, Richards on the PK last night that created the short handed goal was the epitome of playoff hockey.

As a dedicated Pens fan, I would also dearly love to see Hossa's face if the Flyers win, but I fear it's not to be.  Blackhawks in 5 as well.

As a Bruins fan, I have to say... nevermind, it hurts to much to even think about it again...
