SEARCHING FOR A DISTANT STAR, HEADING OFF TO ISCANDAR: Remake "The A-Team"? Eh. "Transformers" and "G.I. Joe" movies? Who cares.

But based on my earlier research, I know there's sufficient interest here to point folks towards the trailer for the upcoming live-action Space Battleship Yamato movie. Our! Star! Blazers! are hitting the big screen, and if there's any justice in this world, a poorly-dubbed version will make its way stateside in 2011.

I'd battle through the raging fire for that!

I'll raise a toast of Dr. Sato's "spring water" to that.

This show was on in Dallas when I was in law school.  Always wondered why they didn't make it into a movie.  English dubbing with a 3-second delay would be PERFECT!

They certainly are being faithful to the original.

Re the Wave Motion Gun, Spacewoman and I saw a local news report several years ago about a military technology that fires low-frequency sound waves that can't be heard but are powerful enough to incapacitate people.  Apparently it caused instantaneous vomiting.  The idea was to use it instead of tear gas or rubber bullets for riot containment or riot control.  I can only assume from the lack of present use that it was far more dangerous than expected.

In conclusion, beat the Comet Empire!
