AND YET FOR ALL THE REASONS IT SHOULD BE AN OVERBLOWN FOLLY, [OUR #1 ALBUM] IS AN IDIOT-SAVANT SMASH, AN EXAMPLE OF A MUSICIAN OVERREACHING, YET TRIUMPHING THROUGH DUMB BRAVADO AND AN IMAGINATION GLORIOUSLY UNFETTERED BY LOGIC: The AV Club's annual vote on the top 25 albums of the year.

  1. There is clearly a corner of the universe where Superchunk is incredibly relevant and meaningful to people.  Adam inhabits it.  I must have turned left at Neptune when the Superchunk people turned right.

I really like the Yeasayer and the LCD Soundsystem CDs, but I'm not sure how either of them will hold up for future listening.

Moby's "Play" was released 11 years ago, and some of it still reminds me of Nordstrom and perfume commercials.

  3. Surprisingly low placement for Arcade Fire's "The Suburbs", I thought.  Then again, I adore that band beyond all reason, so perhaps I'm not the most objective person when it comes to their work.

I knew what #1 was going to be before I even clicked the link - great subject line pull.

The list is filled with music by White artists directed at White listeners. Rick Ross's CD as well as Drake's CD were better than most on the list and better than 2 of the 3 token hi hop/r&b artists that are on the list. Terrible job!

  7. "The Suburbs" is a desert-island disc for me; I'll be listening to it years from now.  I also don't understand how it's only #16.
