IF I CAN CHANGE, AND YOU CAN CHANGE, EVERYBODY CAN CHANGE: Anticipating tomorrow's release of
Pirates of the Caribbean: As If Anyone's Going To Remember What's After The Colon,
EW ranks the top ten "fourquels" of all time. IFC, similarly, lists
"five that weren't terrible."
(Jeez, am I the only one who likes Goblet of Fire?)
ReplyDeleteI got a good laugh out of "As if Anyone's Going To Remember What's After The Colon." Mostly because it was funny on its own. Then I thought about it a different way: What's after the colon? The rectum. Which is likely where most Fourquels belong.
ReplyDeleteGoF is my favorite of the HP movies thus far. Of course, I'm not a huge fan of the HP movies either.
ReplyDeleteStar Trek IV does not belong on any list of "things that aren't terrible" even if we're talking about a bar set as low as "fourquels." Star Trek IV is heinous.
ReplyDeleteSome of us remember :On Stranger Tides because it's nominally based on a Tim Powers novel.
ReplyDeleteHeinous? Have you never seen Star Trek: The Motion (no really, take our word for it) Picture?
ReplyDeleteI can't tolerate a list of Fourquels that tries to be all, "Oh, look... we can be snotty by including TRUFFAUT!" but doesn't include "28 Up."
ReplyDeleteAlso, "Rocky Four" is a marvelous movie on every level.

I would go so far as to say Pirates 4 is better than Pirates 3, but it's a good 40 minutes too long. If you like Captain Jack, you'll be entertained.
ReplyDeleteAnd I've always had a soft spot in my heart for those whales, and the wessels, and Sulu's crazy leather capelet thing, so, yeah. I don't hate Star Trek iV. and Live Free or Die Hard is just awesome.
If I can change, YOU can change! WE ALL CAN CHANGE!
ReplyDeleteAnd that's how Rocky won the Cold War.
