THE DARK AND GOLD KNIGHTS:  Led by Ben Roethlisberger, kick returner Hines Ward, kicker Luke Ravenstahl, and coach Bill Cowher, the Gotham Rogues took on the Rapid City Monuments in a football game yesterday -- or, rather, they were filming The Dark Knight Returns Rises before 10,000 extras at Pittsburgh's Heinz Field. Article contains potential spoilers regarding what happens in superhero movies when thousands of people are gathered in a public space.

So does Roethlisberger end up in Arkham or Blackgate? I'm thinking Blackgate.

The Gotham Rogues?  Excuse me, but I'm fairly certain the football teams for Gotham are the Gotham Knights and the Wildcats, though the Knights colors are indeed Black and Gold. (Rogues would be more appropriate for Keystone City, home of the Flash and his enemies, the Rogues.)  However, there is a Gotham Knights team in the US, a member of the New York rugby league, so I'll guess they own the copyright on that name.

(Also, Ben not being (probably) insane, definitely Blackgate as opposed to Arkham.)

If the Batman football team were the knights, wouldnt DC comics own the copyright?

Maybe this could have been a Gotham Bats (get it?) baseball game, but I'm not sure it's ever summer in the batman universe.

This really gave me a good smile this morning amid the less good and outright bad news throughout the rest of the paper.  Also, the photos of Anne Hathaway in action as Selina Kyle (the Inquirer ran one of these with its article on the Heinz Field filming) aren't too shabby.

Having lost nine straight, no I do not think they get it.  That could be the problem.

The Gotham Baseball teams are (also) the Knights and the Griffins.  There's also a basketball team mentioned at times, the Guardsmen if my search is right.

The Gotham Knights?  That's who Roy Hobbs played for I think.

New York Knights, but close.  No idea what the team name is in that horrible movie adaptation of the excellent novel.

  9. Surprised JJF didn't beat me to this, but I respectfully point out that the film is "...Rises," not "...Returns."  Though, like many a geek, I'd welcome a well-done, authentic film version of "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns."

  11. Don't mean to be the Bane of your existence or anything.  And definitely wasn't being Catwomany.

The alley behind my husband's office was turned into a prison last week. My husband considers this strangely appropriate.

They were filming in my neighborhood last week and the detour I had to take to get home was what I've been calling "the Batcave route" for years. Kismet!

You know, I forgot to mention the possibly even more interesting comic book filming going on here; Powers is going to be set in Chicago, assuming FX picks it up after seeing the pilot.
