STRAP ON THE FEEDBAG:  I don't think last night's episode of "Louie," or at least the half involving Melissa Leo, is the one I'm going to recommend to either of my parents as their gateway into the show, but that was genius.  Patton Oswalt:
Watch the progression of the episode: The late-night talk at Gray’s Papaya about a fellow comedian’s death, tossed off while choking down poisonous junk food. The tension between Louie and Melissa Leo at dinner. The ugly behind-closed-doors fight between the married couple after dinner. The joke-free, laughing conversation in the bar. It’s the shark from Jaws, underneath the dark water: You know something bad (and hilarious) is coming, if only because of all of the buried death, awkwardness, hostility, and desperation in the scenes leading up to...

  1. I was bark-laughing at my screen during that final scene.

The Bing Crosby bit earlier in the ep also had me howling. Because I'm secretly 83 years old, I love a good Bing Crosby joke.

  2. Mick Foley tweeted during the episode: "<span>I think both @</span>LouieCK<span> and the lady driving the pickup have valid arguments here."</span>

I was pretty fond of the kid jokes too.  By the way, how come Louis CK isn't rotating the kids any more?  He used to use different actors for the older daughter, but now she seems pretty consistent.

  4. Just so glad this is back.  When Breaking Bad comes back in a week, it'll be good (by which I mean dark, misanthropic, grim) times!

I thought that the couple fight was just a pretense to get Louie and Leo uncomfortable enough to step outside together. Notice the wife coming to the window and smiling as she notices them head off to her truck.

  8. Louis CK has put the final scene on youtube because "alot of people have been discussing this scene and I thought it would be helpful to have it on here as a reference." yes, but mostly so we could watch it over and over again. so great.

  10. It's about values.  And that was without price.
