I WAS JUST THINKING OF WHEN MY FATHER DIED: Does anyone have
a viable Bob Benson theory for Mad Men which takes into account the fact that
he's totally lying to someone about whether his father is alive and
his ubiquitous Anthora coffee cups, which are starting to give me a water-glasses-in
-Signs vibe?
Benson's a suckup who wants to get ahead at the firm by telling people what he thinks they want to hear, even when it means shading the facts about his father?
ReplyDeleteYep, I'm with the simple theory, too.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I want him to secretly be awesome, because James Wolk is a) good at his job, and b) crazy foxy.
You have to assume that Wolk's arc has some sort of conclusion this year since he went on to take a regular gig on a CBS sitcom. Sure, he will have some ability to split his time, but not an extensive amount. Alison Brie can do it because Community has short orders, but he's on a show that seems to be guaranteed 22 episodes, and CBS may have tighter contracts than Sony.
ReplyDeleteAlso, interesting that his suit in his scene with Pete this week mirrored the Anthora cup.
ReplyDeleteThen again, Brie was appearing on both series when Community was getting 22-episode orders.
ReplyDeleteIt's probably safe to say that Wolk's arc this season won't result in a bigger role next year, but he could come back a few times as a guest star if Benson is still connected to the firm.
I think he's a recruiter for the Dharma Initiative.
