They claim they're going to cast a male as Pan, which makes me fear we're going to get a Jonas Brother, a One Direction member, or Bieber.
It's an odd choice because while it's a well-known story and production, there aren't a ton of memorable songs (I'm Flying and Never Grow Up are about it), and the flying stuff runs a strong risk of looking silly live.
Thinking about it more...I think NBC might have made a major error in this choice. There's a lot of uncomfortable material in the Tiger Lily and "Ugg-a-Wugg" song and other "Indians" bits that played fine in 1954 but they're going to have to deal with that for a 2014 audience.
Probably not. They are officially renewed for a 2014-2015 final season. It's possible they may cut the order back from 22 episodes to a smaller number, but I think that's unlikely, as would be starting shooting early--I'm assuming Lea Michele will tour behind her pop album over the summer.
Was just wondering myself how they were going to handle the Indian parts. Having played third Indian from the left in my summer camp production of Peter Pan, I remember "Ugg-a-Wugg" well. It would not play well now.
Oh, lord, they're going to cast Cathy Rigby, aren't they...
ReplyDeleteSigh. Yeah, hoping for something, anything else might have been a fool's errand.

I would have hoped for JGL as Pan, but he'll probably be busy with his weird TV show that I don't understand.

ReplyDeleteSo we agree on Jonah Hill, right?
ReplyDeleteTWO-TIME ACADEMY AWARD NOMINEE Jonah Hill does know the part. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGFtjPlGjHU
ReplyDeleteWell, they could always replace that with some material from The Trial of Captain Hook.
ReplyDeleteWas thinking of this scene:

I'm seeing rumors about Chris Colfer. The show is still so dated, though.
ReplyDeleteThere is no way in hell Fox is going to let Colfer out of his Glee contract to do this.
ReplyDeleteWon't Glee be over by next December?
