Neil Patrick Harris had a profane message for a besotted fan who disrupted his Broadway show “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.”
Mid-performance, a female fan yelled out, “I love you, Neil!” Harris — who plays a transgender East German punk — yelled back, without missing a beat, in character, “I’m doing something up here, motherf–ker!”
The Post’s Barbara Hoffman reports it was met with rapturous applause.
HUSH YOU.
ReplyDeleteOne of my work friends was there. She thought it was a setup at first, but then realized it wasn't.
ReplyDeleteMust have been Anne Hathaway....
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly!
ReplyDeleteThe full context (including an exchange before that) is even better: http://www.gossipcop.com/neil-patrick-harris-cursed-fan-curse-hedwig-angry-inch-cussed-audience-member-broadway-show/
ReplyDeleteIt didn't even occur to me that people who read the item would think NPH meant it in a mean way - I always read it as a funny in-character quip, but I guess if you don't know anything about Hedwig it could seem jerky. Funny.
ReplyDeleteWell, the "Angry Inch" is explained in the show.
ReplyDeleteI've seen four live musicals in my life. This isn't one of them.
ReplyDeleteAlso, TPE, I don't want to spoil anything, but Harry Potter's owl does not appear in the show.
