KC, of course. Always bet on the American League (unless it's the Yankees). Note that they have home field advantage since we're still stuck with that stupid "All Star game determines home field advantage" thing; Rob Manfred could generate a lot of goodwill by eliminating that, the NL's exemption from the DH and the play-in game on his first day in office. (Yes, I know, he doesn't have that much power but we can all dream.)
ROYALS! It's been a lifelong slog, but this would be the storybook end to a lifetime of being a laughingstock. Also, Sung Woo is coming back! It still doesn't feel real, in many ways, but this is a chance for redemption. Also, I think I'm going to get a new Royals shirt. My last one was a Greinke jersey (he was traded a month later for the ALCS MVP and our starting shortstop).
I will cast my allegiance towards cosmopolitan coast elitism over the flyover states, and Hunter Pence over everything else. Go Giants.

ReplyDeleteSentimentality and the chance to end a long drought gets my vote. Go Royals.

ReplyDeleteGot to go with the Royals...I'm a big fan of the left fielder.
