SLOW, BUT SURE, PROGRESS TOWARD EGOT: Your 2015 Oscar host? Mr. Neil Patrick Harris. He's got a shot to be at EG-T next year, if Hedwig wins the musical show album category at the Grammys.
They wanted a different host for each "act" of the broadcast. (http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/life/television/televisionawards/emmys/2003-08-10-hosts_x.htm) It worked almost as well as the lightning in the bottle that was Franco/Hathaway.
While he's quite good in Gone Girl, I'll be shocked if he gets individual awards attention for the performance--it's a fairly small role, and it's not terribly showy. In addition to Pike and Affleck, I think the logical pushes are Coons (who has a fairly large role), and Perry (who's delightfully playing against type).
Hmm. Is there such a thing as a hosting EGOT? Has anyone hosted all four?
ReplyDeleteI don't think so. Whoopi has hosted all but Emmy.
ReplyDeletePer Twitter (including Randy), Ellen DeGeneres needs T, Jon Stewart (because he was one of 10+ Emmy hosts in 2003) needs T.
ReplyDeleteI have no memory of this, and the Wikipedia page doesn't explain, so ... why were there 400 hosts in 2003??

ReplyDeleteYES! And given his performance in Gone Girl (which is sure to be up for some awards) no one can claim he's not a "movie person."
