WHOAH: ALOTT5MA World Headquarters was recently abuzz with the realization that The Matrix was released an entire decade ago, and that the anniversary would come upon us before we could concoct a suitable think-piece. The Matrix was a watershed for movie aesthetics, special effects, shiny action excess, and confidently sophomoric pseudo-philosophy. It also caught the popular imagination in a manner that suggests that it might, in retrospect, justly be said to mark the approximate apex of late-90s techno-narcissism. So, basically, hell of a time to be without a think-piece. Fortunately, the web abhors a vacuum, and XKCD rode promptly to the rescue with a pithy cartoon commentary.
