WELL, AT LEAST HE HAS THE HAIR: Apparently, Aaron Sorkin may want to venture back into the political world again with his own version of L'Affaire Edwards, and Gawker has some casting suggestions--Tom Cruise as Edwards, Annette Bening as Elizabeth Edwards, and Meg Ryan or Felicity Huffman as Rielle Hunter (though they rightly noted that Huffman is "not ditzy enough"), I'm quite confident we can do better and offer roles for other members of the Sorkin Family Players (Joshua Malina as a once-idealistic but now jaded campaign worker? Bradley Whitford in a cameo as Rahm Emanuel?)

Timothy Busfield as the second-coming of Woodward and Bernstein, but working at the National Enquirer due to some as-yet-unwritten backstory involving self-destruction and redemption?

  2. Whitford as an aspiring White House Chief of Staff?  That'll never work.  :)

The role of Edwards cries out for Ted McGinley.

And I would enjoy hearing Bening say, "Rielle, you're wearing my shirt."

  4. Isn't Aaron Eckhart the perfect John Edwards-type?  Plus, unlike Cruise, he isn't a big enough star to monkey with the script.  And Sandra Bullock as an Elizabeth-type would be a two-fer in publicity terms, which is why she probably wouldn't do it.

  5. Ooh... Aaron Eckhart would be so good in as Edwards.

  7. If it was an HBO film, Greg Kinnear would kill this role and eat its children.

Kathy Bates is better fro Elizabeth. It woudl be sort of reprise of Helen Kushnick

    Kathleen Turner for Elizabeth.

All of your Johns are too young. Think mid 50s, not mid 40s. I understand we were using gawker as a starting point, but we should be able to do better.

Someone on the Gawker thread went with Dennis Quaid for John. I could see it.

I'd go Bill Pullman, but only because I think he has the hair for it (plus I always get them confused, so I might actually be agreeing with you).
