ARE YOU READY FOR THE SUMMER? ARE YOU READY FOR THE GOOD TIMES? We really, truly enjoyed the 2008 ALOTT5MA Summer Cocktail series which TPE organized, the results of which you can revisit here (Dark and Stormy), here (the Combo Mah!), here (Maggie's Dad's Margaritas), here (Beer, served just so), here (Gins and Tonic), here (I Do Not Drink Beer), here (Pimm's Cup), and here (Improper Mint Julep) -- and so we're wondering: what can we do for 2010?

Suggest some warm-weather topic for which you'd like to contribute and on which see others in our community write as well. Summer camp memories? Things you can do with a grill? Be creative, and let us know.

Recipes for cool summer foods (like a good gazpacho - I have yet to find a recipe that turns out well) and things you can do with a grill.

And best movies for an outdoor film festival.

I like the summer recipies idea!

I also think it might be cool if iconic summer vacation or events were reviewed--maybe by thing throwers with experience or connection to the city/event.  Like a Chicagoan (not me) talking about the joys of summer baseball games at wrigley and even including things like a summer camp memory.

I could go for a good gas versus charcoal debate (I can contribute to neither position).  And I echo the summer recipies love.

Summer recipes is good, but I also like Heather K's suggestion about posts of iconic summer events or experiences of particular geographic regions.  Cedar Point trips for any Ohioans or Michiganders?

I will point out that, in the last year, I have modified the mint julep recipe, by raising the heat to medium, and cooking until the mint actually starts to color the water (the original idea was to just heat it enough to dissolve the sugar, but this gets a lot more mint flavor into the syrup).
I've also tried a few variations on the theme - I think the basil julep can officially be classified a failure, but mint-infused bourbon is a hit.

  10. I'm down with grilling recipes, particularly grill-roasting large meats like a whole tenderloing, etc.

Summer recipes (a picnic post, please!) or summer reading would be swell.
