I WAS USING MY PHOOOOONE AS A FLASHLIGHT: As part of our continuing series of animated adaptations of coarse phone calls involving Texans, a customer complains about the Alamo Drafthouse theater's no-texting rule.

Nice little musical pun -- the bumper at the end is "Shut Up and Let Me Go," by the Ting Tings.

  2. Very nice, but needs more "such as" and reference to "U.S. Americans."

She's going to a reglier theater from now on.  So take that!

I want one of these establishments in my town.  The fact that they have and ENFORCE a no-phone policy is sublime.  I'd never go to any other theater to watch a movie.

This is just about the only theater I go to.  Not only do they seriously enforce the no talking and no-phone policy, they also do not allow anyone under 18 without a parent and in most non-kid movies, they don't allow kids under 6 at all.  They have particular dates set aside where you can bring babies and these are advertised as baby-only shows (and they even keep the lights up and the sound down a bit.)  It is so great to go to a non-kid movie and not have inappropriately young kids ruining it!  And no young teenage packs EVER because they really do card under 18.  I know, I sound like an old fogey, but people have serious issues with deciding the appropriate times to bring kids to movies!

In addition to all of this greatness, they also serve food and beer.  And a few years ago they finally figured out that their food was horrible and hired a real chef to re-work the menu and it has paid off.  Any time we go to a movie, we plan for a lunch or dinner show so we can eat there.  (They removed every other row of seats and added tables and space for the waiters to walk through.  You order before the show and eat while you watch.)  Greatest theater concept ever!

They also have great quote-alongs (recently it was Office Space) and had terrific bingo games while we watched the McCain/Obama presidential debates.  Seriously, if you are in Austin, Houston or San Antonio, check it out!  (Also looks like they now have a location in Winchester, VA.)

God, it's another reason to love Austin.  Shut up, Austin.  I get it.  :-)
