WHY I LOVE BASEBALL, PART 594: How about triple plays on consecutive dates? Last night, the Brewers turned the exceedingly rare 4-6-3-2; tonight, the Red Sox went 5-4-3 around the horn.  And from earlier this season, the Cleveland team goes 3-4-6 off a bunt in the air for the trifecta.

I just cannot wrap my head around the thought that 2011 Yunieski Betancourt participated in the defensive part of a triple play.  That guy plays defense nowadays like a large rock rolling down a slight grade.

WILB, Part 595: I went to a single-A game the other night (go, Tri-City ValleyCats!) and saw something I'd never seen before in almost 40 years of going to ballgames: Tri-City rightfielder Drew Muren had two outfield assists in one inning -- in fact, on consecutive plays -- gunning down two Hudson Valley Renegades at home.

Coolest/weirdest thing I ever saw was Chico Walker's in the park Grand Slam against the Giants @ Candlestick in 1991.  Partly, Kevin Mitchell just had a time getting the ball out of the corner in left field, but still.
