SOME PEOPLE WAIT A LIFETIME FOR A MOMENT LIKE THIS:10 years ago today, Kelly Clarkson was crowned the first American Idol.  5 albums, 10 top ten singles, and 2 Grammys later, she's still kicking.  For whatever else Idol has given us, that's not bad.  And in odd Kelly Clarkson trivia?  "Breakaway" was actually co-written by and for Avril Lavigne.

And her greatest contribution to pop culture, from 40 Year Old Virgin, and I quote:

    "AAAAAHHH!!!! KELLY CLARKSON!"

Never was a Kelly Clarkson fan, but even so, she gets permanent credit from me for being the music for the cancer kids' lip-dub at Seattle Children's Hospital.

  5. So American Idol started out as a summer show? Not spring? I did not know that. The first season I watched was David Cook's, so I only know Kelly Clarkson from the radio. I'll admit it...I'm a fan. (Of Kelly Clarkson, not AI - what is going on with that show lately? All new judges? Crazy!)

Yep... summer. I recall watching the finale while on my Labor Day weekend honeymoon.
