KEEPING THE WIG UP ON THE SHELF:  Adam Lambert was approached about doing Hedwig on Broadway, but declined, because he didn't "want to get in drag for eight shows a week."  (Taye Diggs takes the wig off the shelf in July to take over the role from Darren Criss.)

  1. How long until we get a female Hedwig? I'd love to see Lena Hall do it, though she's likely not a big enough name yet.

  2. I have it on good authority that the casting team has already made an offer to a woman, but it has not yet been accepted. Others who have turned it down: Hugh Jackman.

  3. Hugh? Hunh. I *adore* him (I flew to Toronto to see his spectacular one-man show four years ago)... but I'm not sure I could see him as Hedwig.

  4. Ally Sheedy had the role off-Broadway at one point and was (IIRC) not well-reviewed.

Excuse me, Miss Lambert, but I've seen how you dress yourself in your public appearances - drag would probably take less effort.
