IT IS, SADLY, WHAT EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT THIS AFTERNOON: What?
  • NYT: “What’choo talkin ’bout, Willis?”
  • WaPo: "What'chu talkin' 'bout, Willis?"
  • Reuters: "What you talkin' 'bout Willis?"
  • Time: "Whatchootalkin’bout, Willis?
  • AP: "Whatchu talkin' 'bout?"
  • Gather: "Whatcha talkin bout Willis?"
  • CSM: "Whatcha' talkin' 'bout, Willis?"
  • Access Hollywood: “Wat’choo talkin’ ‘bout, Willis?”
  • The Sun (UK): "What choo talkin' 'bout Willis?"
added:
Willis talks about it here. As Isaac noted to me via email, it's an especially interesting question given that this was a show which was deliberately called Diff'rent Strokes and not Different Strokes.

I think Time puts it most accurately, although I might even drop the comma and mash "Willis" up in there too.  It was basically one expulsion of syllables, as I remember it.  Gather and CSM are way, way off with "Whatcha."

I've always spelled it the way the Washington Post does here.

The Epoch Times?  What the hell?  Both with the Epoch Times covering this and the Super Mario front half of the quote.

I'm with Adam C - Time has it most accurately.
