SOMETIMES A FANTASY IS ALL YOU NEED: Due to a remarkably low attrition rate from 2009, there's only one slot available in the 12-team ESPN non-keeper ALOTT5MA Fantasy Football League. If you're interested in joining us, please make the best case for yourself in the comments below, and everyone's accumulated Like voting over the next 24 hours will determine whether Alicia or Cary who gets the offer to join the league. I have the right to be arbitrary if anything weird seems to be going on.

We intend to draft on Monday, August 30 at 9pm eastern, and the current plan is for it to be an auction format draft. [In addition, if folks want to self-organize into a second league, using the comments section as well as our generally dormant Facebook page, go for it.]

  1. I'll note here there has also been interest expressed in a Madden league using Xbox Live designed for "grown-up sports nerds" and using ALOTT5MA as a recruiting ground.  If you're interested, comments here are welcome.

Kansas City Chiefs FB Mike Cox is the best name in football. I have two teams already, so I don't need another, but I just wanted to point out the series of jokes that can be made about "Mike Cox"

  4. An ALOTT5MA Madden league! What a great idea! I'm totally in!

  5. I have consistently floundered in every fantasy league I've played in. I thought JT O'Sullivan was the sleeper pick of the year.  Clearly, my incompetence should make me an attractive pick for the slot.  Also, I watch tv obsessively while multi-tasking, including SYTYCD.  Finally, I lost my 8th grade spelling bee (where i was a prohibitive favorite) on a gimme word ("laboratory").
Please don't hold it against me that I am an attorney, or that I am a proud graduate of the University of Miami. GO CANES!

  6. The ALOTT5MA community helped us name our dog, though we named our daughter on our own. I spend way too much time watching television, and only some of that watching football. I am extremely interested in the auction-format draft (probably a result of my time at U of C). Sometime this season I will be moving from one city with an overpaid, over-hyped, under-performing football team (Chicago) to another city with a similar situation (Washington). I participate in an an ongoing league with a group of friends from my freshman year dorm, but am looking for an additional fantasy football outlet. I'd love to join the group.

  9. I pledge to draft Mark Brunell if selected, and will likely use a high draft pick on a kicker who will shank many kicks both right and left.  I share jam's pain, as I live in Skins land (but am a Jets fan, or as Rex Ryan would say, an f'in Jet's fan.....)  I say this in a last-ditch effort to gin up another like or two.

I joined the ALOTT5MA baseball league this year and have done well (team name Jame Gumb) and would love to continue the competition with what seems like a good group of gamers.  Thanks!
