THEY NEVER MEANT TO CAUSE YOU ANY SORROW:We already know
Glee is doing a Britney Spears-centric episode this fall, and plans another "single artist" episode for their post-Super-Bowl episode, but haven't been able to announce it yet due to music rights negotiations. Current rumor, which makes sense given his protectiveness of his songs, is that they
want to do a Prince episode. Do you want to hear Mercedes musing on "When Doves Cry?" Kurt proclaiming his affection for "The Most Beautiful Boy In The Room?" New Directions proclaiming that they would like us to all go crazy?
Don't focus on the mega-hits. Give me Thieves in the Temple, I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man and When U Were Mine.
ReplyDeleteDMSR, definitely. And I can hear several characters singing When U Were Mine.
ReplyDeleteSung to the tune of "Another Brick in the Wall": "Hey, Gleekers, leave my Prince alone."
ReplyDeleteIf they don't sing "Sexy M.F.," I'm not watching.
ReplyDeleteTelling Glee not to focus on the mega-hits is likely to be as fruitful as telling Glee to build an episode around Professor Murder or, I don't know, Grizzly Bear.
ReplyDeleteWait, does this give Matthew Morrison another opportunity to "rap"?
ReplyDeleteThe Alphabet St. rap?
ReplyDeleteGiven the various love triangles/quadrangles/octahedrons on the show, "When You Were Mine" would be a great fit for the show. Also would love to see maybe a Mercedes/Kurt duet of "U Got the Look."
ReplyDeleteBut, yeah, Glee's not creative enough, I don't think to do anything other than the biggest of big hits: Raspberry Beret, Little Red Corvette, When Doves Cry, Purple Rain, Let's Go Crazy. And they'll probably find some way to let Matthew Morrison dork out with "1999."
*puts in request for "Raspberry Beret."*
ReplyDeleteSome ThingThrowers, myself and Isaac included, will be happy to learn that the Britney episode is also a Brittany episode:

You know what I would like is for them to stop doing these single-artist theme episodes. They're by far the weakest episodes the show does, as they strain to squeeze a plot into the theme they've pre-determined. Foolish.
