/what Adam said, on 1 and 2, but I'd prefer the unexpurgated version in all contexts. ( I do have a cause, though. It's obscenity. I'm for it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzmtYkPCQgg )
I think Gwyneth is great! I mean, still ridiculous with all the GOOP stuff, but between this performance and her impressive showing at the CMAs I'm impressed. I may be alone on a wintery cliff saying so, I realize...
Wow, that Glee version was actually really good. I'm still voting for Cee-Lo and Colbert, because even if you take out the revised lyrics [NO POLITICS], as Idolator points out, the Ladykilla is so happy to be able to actually sing his lyrics it's a joy to watch.
Also, Jeff Goldblum played piano on Fallon last night. With Biz Markie: http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/11/12/on-late-night-jeff-goldblum-and-biz-markie-make-the-best-of-friends/?src=tptw
I'm in agreement -- was very pleasantly surprised by her work here. Cee-Lo's version on Colbert is still better (and funnier) (and yes, like Phil, give me the loud and proud "Fuck You" any day over "Forget You"), but Gwynnie's is good.
Shatner's is Shatner. Which is to say, it's a joke that has probably outlived its shelf life by a few years now.
I have a knee-jerk aversion to Fallon, but after that he's maybe just a Mike Patton / Burt Bacharach duet ('Say A Little Prayer' maybe, if they collaborated on the arrangement) away from a spot on my DVR as well.
I don't watch Fallon (actually, I don't regularly watch any of the late night shows besides Stewart/Colbert), but Mr. Bruce Springsteen is guesting on 11/16, so I'm there for that.
Also, very odd to hear it at the end of last week's "No Ordinary Family," which is generally starting to gel. (Finding a way to use Autumn Resser with characters other than Julie Benz was a big help this week.)
1. I vote for Cee-Lo.
ReplyDelete2. Gwyneth should go back to appearing in twee dramas that I don't have to see.

Who needs a hobby like tennis, or philately?
ReplyDeleteI've got a hobby - rereading Lady Chatterly.
Filth, I'm glad to say, is in the mind of the beholder.

ReplyDeleteAlso? A damn fine Pepper Potts.
ReplyDeleteI'm also impressed with my ability to say impressed 900 times. Sigh.

I vote Colbert!
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty hot right there.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Colbert! Gwyneth was great too, but I've always been a fan.
ReplyDeleteIf they had secretly replaced Gwyneth with Lisa Kudrow, would anyone have been able to tell?
ReplyDeleteFallon needs to put out a dvd of just the musical performances, because I would actually buy that.
ReplyDeleteCee-Lo for sure!
ReplyDeleteI need to put the Fallon on Tivo.

ReplyDeleteWhile you could tell that Gwyneth could sing from her CMAs performance, that Glee song was so autotuned that it really could have been anyone.
ReplyDeleteWhen correctly viewed, everything is lewd. I could tell you things about Peter Pan, or the Wizard of Oz -- there's a dirty old man!

ReplyDeleteBut Matt Smith and a Dalek are on Craig Ferguson that night too. A Dalek!
