I'M HERE AND YOU'RE HERE AND IT'S TRUE, THERE'S A WHOLE LOT OF WALKING TO DO: What I learned about zombies from last night's Walking Dead (still zombies, so I'm still enjoying it): zombies can climb fences, but they can't climb ladders.* They can use rocks as tools, but they can't drive cars.
*Plants vs. Zombies begs to differ.
Those may be more concessions to scale than anything. TWD:TV has given their zombies a little more cognitive ability than TWD:CB, but that's probably because they don't have thousands more extras.
ReplyDeleteI caught the premier last week and enjoyed it. It haven't read the graphic novels but, like Isaac, am a big fan of the who genre of the reanimated. It was nice to go back a bit to a slow build up of the horror of zombies. Bicycle Girl was initially just sad. The kid seeing his reanimated mother was heartbreaking. Only when he got to Atlanta did things become actually horrifying.
ReplyDeleteIt's probably a bit of a cheat to have the narrator miss the first weeks of the zombie plague, but I understand the narrative requirement to avoid several weeks of societal panic.
I'll catch up on Episode 2 later this week.
The Nobos totally endorse this program. AMC, your chair is ready.
ReplyDeleteI've thoroughly enjoyed the first 2 episodes. While I have requested the graphic novels for Christmas, I will only read them after the season is done. I am curious how faithful the plot and characters are to the original works.
