IF THEY CAN'T MAKE MONEY ON THIS, THEY WILL CONSIDER GETTING OUT OF THE MONEY MAKING BUSINESS: After the run of Game of Thrones, HBO will apparently hand the Sunday night slot for the summer over to Vampires Get Nekkid and Aaron Sorkin's new Newsroom, starting June 24.

  1. So you're saying I have until June 24 to get HBO? Cool.

  2. I've only seen a couple of episodes of True Blood. Is there more sex and nudity in that than in Game of Thrones?

    Yes, easily.

I am so sick of people belittling True Blood as "vampires get nekkid." The show is so much more than that. There are also naked werewolves, naked witches, naked maenids, naked fairies, naked were-panthers, naked shape-shifters, and naked regular people.

Presuming they're still shooting Newsroom as this scheduling announcement is made, I call Episode 9 as the one in which someone in the newsroom snobbishly bemoans premium cable's embrace of Pandering High-Naked Genre Idiocy. The Sorkin Hero will shrug this off with a comment about how there should be something for everyone on TV... News and Documentary That Educate Us, Art That Sustains Us, and Trash That Turns Us On. And then he will say that his teenage daughters love [thinly veiled True Blood stand-in].

  7. Also, in what little I've watched of True Blood, the sex/nudity seems much more gratuitous than it is on GoT. On GoT, the sex/nudity is generally directly related to the plot (Tyrion goes to a brothel, Dany's initiation), while True Blood, the sex/nudity seems for the primary purpose of titilation.

On the other hand, naked Lizzy Caplan.

Game of Thrones wins out in the battle of full frontaly male nudity. However: the producers of True Blood could make it up to me by giving us plenty of full frontal Alcide in season five.

It's not really my cup of tea, but here you go:

Question: Is casting Jane Fonda as the head of Newsroom's fictional media conglomerate groanworthy, brilliant, or both?

  11. It depends..... Is the network named ZNN?
