IT'S NO OLIVE GARDEN, LET ME TELL YOU:  "So, let's go to this place where you're served food in the pitch black by blind waiters, have to sign a two page waiver and read the 'Dining Rules' before you go in, choose from one of four 'surprise' menus so you have no idea what you're eating, and have no way of getting out!"  Sounds like a great idea, right?  Wrong.

It gave us that brilliant review, so at least something good came of it.

They'd have to pay me $100 a head to eat mystery food in the pitch dark. And even then, not sure I'd do it.

  3. The restaurant may suck, but the review was awesome.  I can imagine a *few* things I'd hate more than the experience they described, but not many.

  4. I actually ate at this same concept restuarnt in London years ago with a group of friends and we had a lot of fun. It was more of an "experience" than a great dinner, but we were happy that we had done it.

"<span>The location is Midtown, blocks away from Port Authority and Times Square. So you're already starting at a disadvantage.</span><span> "</span>

Um...what?  Looking at a map, the location is a few blocks away from a major subway stop, so I don't see the problem there.  Is this a bad neighborhood?

"<span> </span><span>So we sign some waivers, lock up our belongings in a basement locker</span><span> "</span>

Waiver is fine.  Lock up my belongings?  Pardon me, but I want to keep my nightvision goggles with me.

I'm guessing that that's just a bit of Manhattanite snobbery - that it's a tourist neighborhood.

That being said, I can't wait not to go to this restaurant.

  8. There is a scene in the very bad Kristen Bell movie When In Rome (yes I saw it. STOP MOCKING.) that takes place in a restaurant like this. Which makes me think the only thing that would make eating in this place palatable is if Josh Duhamel is your date.

Maret stole my reply (yes, I also saw it. FOR SHAME).

I've heard people having had nice experiences at "dining in the dark" type restaurants (as Libby says above), but this one just sounds incredibly poorly run.

What's the point of dining with Josh Duhamel if you can't gaze at him the whole time?

The whole experience sounds awful--I don't trust food that I can't see.

Especially squishy food that I can't see.  And waiters telling you to be quiet.

I can think of one reason: "Oops, did my hand just land in your pants?"

  20. I saw it too. I think when it was streaming on Watch Instant? It was terrible.

  21. It's a neighborhood where food goes to die.
