That's the nicest thing I've ever heard from Morissey.
Morrissey made a comment about the Smiths without any swears? Are we sure that's really him?
So they are never, ever, ever getting back together? (Like, ever?)
That's the same thing I thought when I saw the quote.
Man, that's more depressing than it normally is.
With any luck, no.
That's such a perfect response, given that Morrisey's defining characteristic as a lyricist (even more than his moroseness) is his commitment to the principle that anything worth saying once is worth saying a bunch of times right in a row.
First reaction: Oh godDAMMIT. Come ON! Second reaction: Dare we hope he doth protest too much? Third: No. He has too much fucking money, is the problem here. The 1980s/90s Electric Shitloads Money Truck could pull up outside his house, just like it did at Charles Thompson's, Gordon Sumner's, Ian Brown's, et. al., and the driver could lean on the horn for seventy-four hours straight, until the neighbors have all left for Ibiza or made inept Molotovs and had their gardeners lob them through the poolhouse windows, and Moz'd still be sitting inside, fingers in his ears, watching TAR Season 2 with closed-captioning on, cup of tea cooling rapidly on the table beside him, richly enjoying the grand fuck you he's giving old Mssrs. Joyce, Marr and Rourke for all tiiiiiiiiime.
