MUPPET OF THE HOUSE: This Ain't It Cool post about the next Muppet movie (mild potential spoiler) jokingly suggests that Les Mis would've been better as a Muppet movie. Without getting into the merits of that, I'm quite confident we can cast Muppet Les Mis here. Some things are easy--Kermit as Valjean, Piggy as Fantine (of course she's going to want the diva role), and Robin as Gavroche--but who's your Javert? Statler and Waldorf (with one in drag) as the Thernadiers? Offer up your suggestions below.

Sam the Eagle has to be Javert. That's obvious.
ReplyDeleteScooter and Skeeter as the Thernardiers. Louise as Eponine. Piggy as Cosette and Kermit as Marius. Fantine is the difficult one, but since I'm all for killing her off early and getting the show finally going we'll toss Janice in there.

ReplyDeleteAre we limited to the Muppets from the Muppet Show, or can we use the full range of Muppet characters? Because I think having Ernie as Valjean and Bert as Javert would be pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteUnless it's Bert and Ernie in the two leads, why can't Fozzie be Valjean with Kermit as Marius? [Basically, I want to hear "Who Am I?" in Fozzie's voice.]

ReplyDeleteIf you don't play it straight, you could have Piggy try to force her way into the Eponine role after realizing that Fantine dies so early.
I would say Animal and Janice as the Thenardiers.
ReplyDeleteI go with the delineation that Ernie and Bert are not Muppets, as they did not originate on the Show or movies.

ReplyDeleteI want Piggy to be Fantine, but then also take over the parts of Eponine and Cosette. In my mind there are actresses are playing Eponine and Cossette. Piggy takes each one out just as she starts her big number (one after the other) so Piggy can play all of the parts. This works very much along the same lines as Piggy being jealous that Jenny is spending time with Kermit in "Muppets take Manhattan." In this scenario, Kermit is Marius.
