WHITHER THE LEFTORIUM?  The Universal Orlando theme park is adding one new ride and a variety of eating/shopping locations to bring us all a little closer to Springfield:

It will be the only place in the world where guests can walk the streets of Springfield. It will include a brand-new outdoor attraction, places and foods pulled right from the show and two new Simpsons characters who will make their debut with the new area – Krusty the Clown and Sideshow Bob.
And yes – there will be Duff Beer, brewed exclusively for Universal Orlando.
For the first time ever – anywhere – fans will be able to walk down Fast Food Boulevard and visit the places that helped Springfield stake its claim as “Shelbyville by the Sea.” They will be able to grab a Krusty-certified meat sandwich at Krusty Burger, snatch the catch of the day at the Frying Dutchman, get a slice at Luigi’s Pizza, go nuts for donuts at Lard Lad, enjoy a “Taco Fresho” with Bumblebee Man and imbibe at Moe’s Tavern.
The new attraction – called Kang & Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl – will take “foolish humans” on an intergalactic spin designed to send them into orbit.
Note: Universal Orlando does not have a monorail.

"two new Simpsons characters who will make their debut with the new area – Krusty the Clown and Sideshow Bob"?

  2. They're making a debut as meet and greet characters. Universal has been being very aggressive over the past few years, with this, Potter phase 2, Despicable Me, and Transformers, and they've moved FAST on stuff.
Disney's "New Fantasyland" is nice, but isn't really a response and is moving slow (the mine train is taking 3ish years to build). I expect they're going to announce something big in response at some point (likely a combination of the Avatar stuff at Animal Kingdom and more Pixar/Lucas at the Studios).

As much as I want to go there, it does strike me as similar to the Hunger Games-branded makeup. "Come enjoy what we invented as a way of making fun of people for enjoying these things?"

Best part of this post? Adam didn't even bother to provide a link to the monorail reference. That's knowing your audience.

In my imagination, Duff Beer is watery, acidic, and cheap. I imagine that the real-life Duff Beer will be watery, acidic, and expensive.

Also, apropos of T&C's comment, it seems like this whole idea gloriously misses the point of the Simpsons, like stripping language to a series of sounds without meaning.

As a Las Vegas native, I appreciate you saying "Nevada" and not "Las Vegas", as prostitution is not legal in Las Vegas, but it is legal in large parts of Nevada.

    "Universal Studios Mineral County"

You're thinking of standard Duff. Duff Dry and Duff Ice are much better.
